[PUBLISHED] Wazeopedia Average Speed Zone

Post by atrophicshiner
Whiling away the hours of illness means I've got another page for the UK Wazeopedia, this time it's short and to the point.

Average Speed Zones

Once again do feel free to provide feedback. Thinking ahead (probably quite far) am I to assume any approval process would simply be a Wiki/Wazeopedia Master (assuming Tim) moving the page to the main UK section?

Hi Chris, this looks good. It is a bit of Waze that is not yet understood by the majority of users. I have had a few UR's about the position of the start and end of the zones and the fact there is no warning if you are not navigating. :D

You may need to keep an eye on the situation though, as I suspect Waze HQ are fiddling with this. I have a small section of average speed road on the Southend seafront which I drive a couple of times a week. It works well when navigating (both the "Average speed zone ahead", and the "Entering average speed zone" warnings) but you get no voice warning when just driving with Waze on - UNTIL last week.
I now get no warning from the Western end, but on entering the Eastern end of the zone I get "Average speed zone ahead" just as I enter the zone!!

All the best

ps, the Chris' will never catch up with the Ia(i)ns no matter how many you recruit. ;)

Another update on this seeming changing situation. :)

I am now getting occasional (but not consistant!) warnings when entering average speed zones and not navigating. There appears not to be the "Average Speed Check Zone ahead" warning that you get when navigating, but I am getting the "Entering Average Speed Check Zone" at the correct point (most of the time :? ). I have yet to discover if it is (like speed cameras) speed dependant. :D

Another nice piece Chris, short, succinct and providing quick access (should it be indexed correctly) to a specific and not hidden as a part of another page. I'll PM more soon.

Hope you're now recovered and blundering around the actual, rather than the virtual, mapping again.

Will you still be going to Silverstone? I 'sold' Waze to a friend of mine who was held up around there for some motorcycling event. I hope my promise of Waze feeding back traffic delays and offering an alternative route would have saved him time . . .

On topic:
Great document Chris, well done. Hopefully you're well on the mend now...

Off topic:
Personally, I think the Ia(i)ns are cheating with this battle, having two spellings of the same name. :-P
