speed limit sound alert

Post by geordiemick2
Android jelly bean. I was using speed alert ##@debugspeed and the sound alert was very useful. But Ive just reset my phone, installed different (newer?) version of waze 3.8.1.0. Now why i put in the code, i get "no network connection" response. Any ideas?

Am was under the impression that Waze was up to 4.23 on Android but it depends on which version it is I guess. Waze v3.8.1.0 was released back in 2014 so I can't image it has the speedometer function hence the error. I'd look again for the best version for your device. Supposedly the latest Waze version can be installed on Android 4.0 and up.

If it is available, why do you need to use the speed debug :?: You can set the point Waze alerts you to exceeding the speed limit in the Settings.

Setting > Speedometer > Play alert sound / When to show alert

I am running the latest version of Waze (4.27.0.1) on iPhone 6se version 10.3.2

I am NOT hearing any alert sound when I am speeding. The only time I get an alert sound is when the speed limit changes. I have toggled all the settings several times. I have "Play alert sound" set to "on". "When to show alert" is currently set to "5 MPH above speed limit" but I have tried all the options with no alert sound. Is anyone else having this problem? This has worked in previous versions.

Assuming you're a safe driver who only accidentally goes over the limit by a little bit, you might find that the apps calculated speed is lower than your car's speedometer, at least it does in my car!

It might be worth have the app to display your speedometer and lower the alert?

I think it runs 2-3 mph lower than my car (which is porbably incorrect), this means in a 30, I could be doing 38mph before I get the alert. I also use 5% above rather than the 5mph as I think it makes more sense at slower speeds. In a 30, 5% is only 1.5mph over, alot safer than 5mph.

Definitely check the apps speedometer is displaying the correct speed

IIRC the code '##@debugspeed' was used in the first release of the speedometer in order to get it to always display the speed limit but did not affect the alerts given when speeding.

In the latest releases (on iOS at least) the speedometer settings have included an option "Show speed limit" so you can now control this via the setting without resorting to the code.

The only other thing I've noticed is that it only plays and alert sound when you start speeding i.e. when you enter a lower limit too fast, or first increase your speed over the current limit .. it does not play the alert sound at regular intervals like some other apps/cars.
