UK+IE Community Conference - Greenwich - July 21st 2018

Post by
This year we will be holding our 5th annual conference in Greenwich (London) on Saturday, July 21st. This is your chance to meet with staff and other users, to discuss issues and talk about all things Waze. The event will be held at The Novotel, Greenwich, and will include lunch and refreshments.
We usually start at about 9am, and finish sometime after 5pm.

As is traditional, there will also be an optional social gathering on the Friday evening at a nearby pub where we eat, drink and chat.

Waze will pay for Friday night's accommodation + breakfast, and usually reimburse travel expenses.
If you need flights, then I'll send you the travel agent form you need to fill in.

 Event Registration Form

Note: This event is for UK and Ireland editors only, and submitting an entry via this form does not guarantee a place as spaces are limited. Preference will be given to active editors and area managers, though we welcome any other new users too.

If you have any questions, please post them below.

Go!

Reason: Fixed link to the hotel

Considering missing a day of classic car racing to attend. Do you know if any parking charges will be covered, assuming we'd need to boo in advance, as I'm likely to be driving from Silverstone Friday evening and return there Saturday evening. Ignore, just fully read the registration form, apologies :D

PS Can you check the hotel link, think you've pasted twice ;)

You won't get charged if you enter the CCZ after 18:00 on Friday so leave it late enough and any route would be free*

*If you use any other toll route you ay be charged ;)

Thought I may as well kick off this debate:

The Friday night social.

Two options local to the Hotel in Greenwich, both within walking / staggering distance of the Hotel.

(1) Belushi's in Greenwich, they are a chain pub with food available until 10pm - almost opposite the Hotel. However they will have a resident DJ until 10pm and the website suggest this is a Student Bar, so expect it to be loud.

(2) The Ashburnham Arms is a Shepherd Neame pub a couple of streets away from the hotel, guaranteed to serve Real Ales :D Their food menu is available in the evening (not as extensive as Belushi's menu, but they are unlikely to be populated by students and a resident DJ).

(3) The Morden Arms There's no website for this pub but the google photos show Morris Dancers at this pub, so it is very likely to serve Real Ale. Cannot guarantee food will be available as not able to check.

Regards,
Ian

I should be at the pub between 7 & 8pm, I'm not staying at the hotel, so I'm at the mercy of Southeastern / Thameslink trains or a long car ride with no prospect of alcohol all evening :(

What’s my best bet for getting round to the conference in the shortest time? I had a look at the DLR, which would get me there at a very timely 08:55, but would the bus or tube or anything be faster, more reliable or even possible?
The DLR is part-closed for engineering work next weekend, so you'd need to get the DLR from LCY to Woolwich Arsenal, then change to a SouthEastern train to Greenwich. Journey time is 30 minutes.
Also get yourself a TfL Oyster Card, it will be much cheaper than buying single tickets from LCY to Greenwich. Then if you come to London again there's no need to buy another one, just top up the same card.

Dublin next year gets my vote, and with air fares not to bad from London it can't be an unreasonable destination. (I'm guessing most parts of the country can get similar flight packages :? )

With Ian's range of hotel contacts, there must be a decent one we can make use of in or around Dublin.

See you all next year!

Would love to attend one of these but getting time off work with people away on holiday is something I am unable to do.
