Innacurate GPS positional information

Post by SteveSnail
Just in case you weren't aware of this...there does seem to have been an increase in reports reccently whereby the GPS trace is not very accurate:

Galileo sat-nav system still without service: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-48985399

Reports may be related to Android Auto use. Waze has been essentially unusable on Android Auto for the past few weeks, it keeps dropping GPS regardless of phone type. Google Maps is fine, so it is related to the Waze app. There are various threads about it.

It started with me a few weeks ago using a Pixel XL on Android Auto. Changed to my old Samsung A3 work phone, still had the same issues. Work finally gave me a new Samsung J6 this week, so shiny new phone, newly installed app.....same GPS issues as soon as I started Waze on AA.
There is a new version of Android Auto, launched yesterday, maybe this will help.

I've given up on Waze on AA, I only use it on my phone. I've got two phones, work and personal, so its interesting to see how Google Maps (which works fine on AA) and Waze compare side by side.

GPS issues don't seem to be limited to AA though.... https://www.waze.com/en-GB/editor?env=r ... t=13687409

Interesting. I use Waze on AA, and have noticed it consistently losing GPS lock, however normally a reboot of my phone sorts it out.

Yeah, Waze on AA is quite frustrating at the moment. I use both, AA in my car, my phone at work. Phone is fine, AA is very hit and miss. Do wish they'd sort it out!
