City Polygons and Livemap Searches

Hi all,

While searching on the Livemap for "Twyford", a large village just outside Reading in Berks I got the suggestion of "Twyford, Wokingham, United Kingdom", clicking on it however takes you to Shropshire :shock:

Hovered over the hazard in NI because I thought it was good use of reporting in the client =)

I've had a search through the forums because something in the back of mind tells me that the Livemap *search* doesn't use the map data but pulls it from a 3rd party provider (bing?), can anyone confirm this? If so does it get reported to waze HQ for them to sort it out? Unfortunately the editor is down so I can't look for any oddities in Shropshire that would cause the search to point there.

Agreed :D I think it's gone from the livemap now though.

Any ideas about the odd search result?

Searching on the editor shows that the city isn't "Twyford" but Twyford Lane is within a few hundred metres ... maybe what's causing the weird search results?

When I do a client search to navigate to Wokingham it offers me two, one 125.5 miles away and the other 125.6.

They are both the Berkshire one.

Try Ashford and choosing Ashford (Kent). You get Ashford (Middlesex) which is in fact Ashford (Surrey).

I'll crawl back under my rock now.

Looking at that map, it looks like it is just off the A5 between shrewsbury and oswestry. :!: :!: :!:

A quick look on google maps finds this...

Interestingly, clicking on Twyford (Hants) takes you to Twyford in Dorset!

Although with IIRC 14 Twyfords in the country i can understand a little confusion :)
