M6 J10, directions using roundabout, not slip road

Post by xonthus

When leaving the M6 (N) to go onto the A454(W) towards Wolverhampton, Waze routes you onto the roundabout, rather than keeping left onto the slip road that bypasses the roundabout.

Can't see why this is happening, but it's not correct!

Hi,

Silly question, and not restricted to this particular issue, but would it not be sensible for the editor to have an option of clearing road speed data given it may be rogue data?

The main ramp segment has an Av speed of 34.2mph whereas after it splits they both have a av speed of 6.8mph.

What you could do here is delete the ramp segment that bypasses the roundabout and snip a length out of the main ramp and re-use so the speeds are then 34 vs 7mph.

Happy to make this so as it's all L5 locked anyway.

You need to be a level 3 or above editor, then it shows up in WME.

Probably because this segment https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=-2.014 ... =160343359 has a much higher avg speed. than the offramp.

The problem we have now will be because it routes round the roundabout, and most people will actually take the off ramp, because they are so close together waze will actually think you are actually still on the roundabout, and will set the speed of the roundabout to that of the off ramp. - This is my guess as to how this small segment has such a higher speed compared to the rest.

I think I rebuild might be in order to reset everything back to normal, but I would let a more senior or local AM pipe in first.

Roundabout bypass ramps often don't work in Waze, particularly when the length and time for both routes is roughly similar.

It might be best to remove the ramp entirely, so that the driver has gets a simple "1st exit" instruction. It should be pretty obvious from signs and lane markings which way to go.

...and you need the Colour Highlights script.

Ramp deleted.

That might be a better short-term solution, if there is no way of persuading Waze to do the sensible thing. It would remove the 'keep right' instruction on the off-ramp that causes confusion.

Aside: where does one find the avg speed information? is it only in the beta editor, or am I missing something?
