Getting UR's in my area from people on iphone whose waze app is locking up, not tracking the gps and generally unusable. Restarting the phone makes no difference and the problems only started after the update. Are any of these known bugs and is there any work around?

I'm on 3.8.0 and tried both Daniel (street names) and Simon (my usual voice of choice) on a short drive just now and both were giving instructions for all roundabouts, including "go straight on" for Daniel or "Continue straight" for Simon. 20 roundabouts, 12 of which are straight-on, 6 in short succession.

Also had a couple of staggered junctions and Simon dutifully suggested I "turn left, then turn right" as usual.

Perhaps it's just an Android thing? seems fine/unchanged on iPhone.

Ah, also, I always play media on the phone too, so waze is always coming over the bluetooth media channel for me (so the waze audio is stereo-ish, much better quality, and no pausing), rather than the bluetooth phone channel (shite audio quality, plus too much of a pause for me). Perhaps that has something to do with it.

Sad but true. Personally, I'm more unhappy with the compulsory sharing of mobile number and full addressbook with waze now, even if you just want to email your drive instead. Plenty of examples of other apps, some accidentally some nefariously, leaking address book info. It should only be asked for when needed, not be the entry gate to all other location share options like email/url. I tried allowing it once to get past it so I could email, but it checks for address book access every single time you click the share button and won't allow access to the other share methods until you reenable addressbook access.

Very poorly implemented IMHO.

[Heads Up] Waze v3.8 TTS Issues - Read Before Upgrading

I was just about to put a note up saying the same as #4. I only got it since reinstalling yesterday.

You'll have to remove them manually, but after that I'd go into 'Accounts' and disable 'Sync contacts' for Waze.

Hey guys,

We are aware of some issues in 3.8, and they will be addressed in the next update (3.8.1) within the next two months. We're monitoring user feedback and this issue hardly came up.

Thanks for your feedback, which is very helpful and influential. Keep it up :)

It is only in certain combinations that it is thoroughly confusing, so it may take some time before the complaints come, probably once people have ended up going the wrong way on an unknown route.

My route to and from work has a sequence of three roundabouts that show up the problem, which is why I'm aware. The first two are counted by Waze as simple, the third as complex. I go straight across the first two roundabouts and take the first exit at the third, so under the new instructions Waze was telling me to take the first exit at the roundabout before I got to the first roundabout, and aside from a last minute "go straight on" when I'm just driving onto each of the simple roundabouts that was the only instructions. Coupled to that since the update has totally killed the TTS so it's not reading street names it's all round a real pain, such that I'm seriously considering using something else the next time I drive somewhere I'm not sure of the route because of the potential confusion with the instructions.

There was also an issue with speed cameras that are only facing one way, alerting in both directions. This will create an issue with valid speed cameras disappearing and UR's.

Have;nt been able to test in the full version

On a similar note, it'd be appreciated if the TTS could shut up as soon as the app realises you're not following the previously offered route, rather than waiting until the current spoken instruction has been completed before giving the "doodle-doop" rerouting jingle and starting to read out the new instructions that have been on-screen for several seconds already.
