I'm working on setting proper cities in Cairo & Giza (Cairo is not a city, It is a Governorate which contains 34 different City) and I'm changing the streets while doing this with proper type and Egyptian names (Keeping English names as alternate)
I have problem with altering long roads which cross many cities.. every 4 or 5 unlocked segments, there is a locked one.. most of the major roads have tens of locked segments hidden inside.. should I ask for unlocking each segment in a single post? or there is another way for doing this (such as asking for unlocking the whole road)? please advice.

we may find many النزهة inside القاهرة.. but there is only one النزهة inside مدينة نصر
for me, I must search for مدينة نصر with the street name to make sure it is the right one.. so I always use the way (1) in your example.

I did a small survey with some students, trying to detect the major choice for a user who seek a destination.. their answer was such a surprise:

1) in your example, the majority look for النزهة only (without any city).. letting the app list all matching streets.. then they click the suitable one from the list.

2) the house numbering is so important for the native people because they already know the city of destination, but they don't know where is house #45 located exactly. So, they would look for "45 النزهة"

anyways,
the Waze App can use google & foursquare database, then it convert the coordination to waze's map. It will manage to find the right destination even the map has no street name at all

Actually, searching unknown destination wasn't in my mind at all.. I was only trying to make navigation map more powerful & helpful by displaying the proper egyptian/english names for the current street and proper TTS for the vocal instructions / next street pronunciation. most of us my know their destination well, but we use waze for traffic decision making.

Yes, I believe Asterix will help us with this situation .. as far as I know, there is different guidelines for different Countries and self-managed Countries may make their own guidelines.
for Egypt, we have old guidelines to write both in a way like this:
"Giza - الجيزة" (which is very ugly to read)
then there was light! the "alternate" feature was added without changing the guidelines.

thanks for the mass unlock offer.. After your permission, I prefer starting with "Giza" not Cairo at all.. I have Giza's governmental maps so I'm sure of the borders accuracy among cities.. I've started already & almost finished.. Giza is easier as a start (only 7 cities) and will help me in the complicated Cairo, which I can't verify its map right now.

if anyone wants a copy of Giza's Cities maps to monitor my edits, just tell me and I'll attach them.
