Reminder regarding speed/red light cameras

Post by B_Carp
Many speed & red light cameras are being placed at the actual camera location, rather than on the road segment itself. In addition, I have seen many speed & red light cameras placed/edited/deleted without any associated changes to nearby road segments, even by quite senior editors.

The wiki states that correct red camera placement should be over the roadway being monitored. Red light cameras should be at the stop line & speed camera at the position being monitored:

The wiki also states that camera additions, deletions & edits do not trigger a map tile update, so the camera changes will not be seen in the Waze app unless something else triggers a map tile update. Therefore, when you make a change to a camera, you must make another change to a nearby road segment to get the camera edit shown in the Waze app:

I think this has been an oversight by editors. However, if this is an intentional omission, could you please let me know why this is?

I will try to test some things out to see.

Am I correct to say that the question being asked is - do we need to make a segment change for camera changes to go through?
