Waze satellite image reverted?

Post by jberkers42
Wow! That is looks like a significant alignment shift. Zooming out shows other roads, presumably older, that are aligned with the currently available imagery. The GPS points appear to mostly line up with the imagery.

It might be the imagery mis-alignment that caused it to be pulled, while they re-process the alignment.

stevethompson49 has made a good point recently to check these issues against the GPS points layer. In this case, it appears that the current satellite view is correct.

Yep - the image alignment may have changed, but the GPS points should remain the same, which is the primary reference for road alignment.

I agree that recent Streetview should be more accurate than generic user GPS tracks, although with GPS tracks you get to see location of both directions of traffic, and info from multiple lanes of traffic, if applicable.

It also appears that with GPS tracks, there seems to be shortcutting of turns, almost like the GPS point is midway between two actual car locations, whereas the Streetview is a single location corresponding to the photo location.
