agreed theclem54. This is unfortunately a limitation of GPS, not Waze.
For the best part of the mapping, lets just stick with what works, ie: Keep the mapping simple, so there is less chance of the Waze 'Car' Icon locking onto a road that it shouldn't be on, and off-ramps, junctions to look like that of commercial GPS units.

If they ever decide to implement Trucks on GPS routing, we will have to (again) go over all the roads to ensure bridge heights, truck routes/restrictions are complied with. Personally, unless the Google team can add those details into Waze, that will be another massive job and I would challenge what the return of investment would be to have this on Waze.

Great idea.

Suggest this in the Waze App Feature Requests froum.

glomp: I recall seeing something in the wiki that suggests that Editors wait for 7 days and if no response from the reporter of the UR, simply mark it off complete.

I did a couple of scheduled restrictions last night. On a quick search I couldn't find an online list of them all for Brissy though, makes it tricky to get them all as you kind of already have to know where they are, not something we can pick of aerials, needs street view at the intersection to confirm times when implementing.

No satnav system will be accurate enough for that sort of lane control any time soon. GPS fixes are only points in time, the gyroscope/magnetometer/accelerometer (which ever one(s) they're including these days) are used in between GPS fixes to keep track of position, this is known as dead reckoning which is possibly even less accurate than GPS (depending on the implementation of course).

Even if GPS was accurate enough, Waze doesn't support lane control and I'm not sure if they any intention to any time soon, the editing workload for full lane control would be immense.

Just a quick note for any editors engaging in Conversations. Please keep an eye on your grammar and spelling, we don't want the Waze users thinking that the map is edited by children, they'll lose confidence.

Let us know when they come back with those lotto numbers glomp, you don't need the entire 20 mil.

We've noticed roughly the 20-30%ish figure here in Brissy too. If they don't respond to my request in 7 days then I close it off. If another editor's request has been sitting for 14 days then I'll close it off, hate UR clutter.

As for the useful benefits. Sometimes I like to send them a message just before I close a report too, just hope they get it even though I close it off 2 seconds later. Usually I'll thank them for their help (if they have sent a useful UR or comment response, there's been a few really useful UR comments this evening).

There was one report a while back where they didn't like the route Waze provided, there was no error but the Waze route was 6 minutes faster according to the Waze system. I had asked them where they were driving so that I could map out the route in the live map. After doing this I was able to explain to them the time difference between the options and why Waze had directed them to turn left rather than right. I think for this education of users experience if nothing else, it's a great tool.

In Victoria trucks are banned from the right-hand lane on freeways with three or more lanes of traffic in each direction. This would be difficult to implement since you would have to draw all three or more lanes to have the vehicle restriction in the right hand lane, anyone have any thoughts on this one? My immediate thought is that the truck driver should know this but people travelling from overseas driving a truck may not.
