Closures form vs restrictions

Post by Hypersky75
So as per the wiki, https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Canada#Closures , closures can be reported using this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1qseeTL ... Y/viewform
This method is preferred over adding restrictions -- it is nearly immediate (processed several times per day by Waze staff), and does not rely on a tile rebuild. The closure will also be visible in the app and on the livemap, in addition to avoiding routing through the segment.
• For daily/nightly closures, add entry for each day.
That's great for emergency closures, but for planned closures, why not just ask waze to make regular restrictions visible in the app/live map? That would let the editors/reporters get editing points, and would make it simpler then filling out a form, especially for daily/nightly closures.

Thoughts?

This would be nice to have for am's and higher. I do not know about anyone else but I have filled out the form several times and never seen the closure go through. This would make it easier in areas with a lot of construction like houston right now with parts of the map changing almost weekly.

Hey Hypersky75,

Waze is now testing (in the beta phase) the possibility of adding the ability to add closures directly from the WME and have them show with the barricades and kick-in much quicker than in current method (form, Waze staff update, etc.).
I don't have the timeline for when this will be in the live environment but this is the plan.
Once it is available there will be guidance on what user levels are permitted to apply those closures.

Cheers,
HM.

It is planned to be released to rank 5 and higher.

If you have submitted closures that haven't gone through I would be interested to get more info about that...

If you have more feel free to PM me and I will look into it.
