In February 2015, Kentucky editors started a project to rename all state road to a common format. We decided to follow Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's naming convention of KY-xxx. Before that they had different names all over the state, State Hwy, State Rd, Ky-, State Rte, etc. We decided we should also use the opportunity to correct other things at the same time since we were editing the road already. So as we went along, we corrected geometry, functional classification, removed roads that did not exist, fixed any segments that connected to the highway, and more.

In December 2015, the ability to add speed limits to segments was added to WME. Even though we had already been working on the project for 10 months, we decided as a group to add it to the list of things that we should do while working on the KY Highways. We already had it on the wiki To Do list and a tracking system in place for which ones where completed so we made a slight adjustment and made it our primary tracking for speed limits in Kentucky as well.

Eighteen months after the project started, I am pleased to say with the help of those listed below, we have completed the KY Highway Renaming Project. I can't thank the Kentucky editing community enough for their help. Some of the segments listed below should have more than one name on them. KY editors have truly shown what a great team we have as they completed this together. The time they put into the project made a huge difference in the Kentucky Waze map. Fewer issues has brought better routing and fewer Update Requests. Again, a huge thank you to all those that helped.
