Mapping UDel

Post by Poncewattle
Call for discussion.

Should the University of Delaware campus be mapped as an area place?

The standard is yes. The potential drawback is that UDel pretty much is most of Newark and is not contiguous so there'd be multiple area places and the area place would pretty much swallow the town. We could maybe just do the main campus as an option.

So the questions up for discussion.
  • Map UDel as an area place?
  • Map just the main campus or all parts of the university
  • What about dorms? What if they are off campus?
  • What about University-owned commercial estabilishments, like the Courtyard Hotel?
I'm going to edit this message with examples of other small towns with dominant universities that we can use as a guide.

I drew the main campus based on this map on UDel's site

I made the stop point at the visitor center.

I did not draw south campus.

It would possibly be a lot of work for nothing, but why not try it and see how it works out? Put some BOTG.
