Removed Roads

Post by timlinden
Hello

I recently updated the map here:
https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=5&lon ... TTTTTTTFTT

But the roads are now gone, and the old road that no longer exists is back. I'm not sure if it was removed accidentally or on purpose. The satellite is way outdated.

This area was completely re-done. You can see one of the new sections in the satellite view on waze, but not the rest. People still lived there the whole time so they built the first building, moved everyone in, destroyed the old ones, built new ones, etc. That way nobody was kicked out in the process.

The last group of buildings was completed last week. This street is now the new Navy Dr. I was in the process of adding it (drove the route, but didn't get to input the details yet) but now it's gone. Still on my cell though..

There was a UR that Navy Dr was missing from the map. I used the North Kingstown GIS system to fix the map. Word of warning, the North Kingstown GIS is one of the most difficult to operate (zoom is the bar in the title, the traditional GIS controls do not work) - http://gis.northkingstown.org/Map.aspx. Also, their aerial photos are clearly outdated, but the roads drawn in the system appear to be up-to-date.

I'm pretty sure I didn't delete any newly created roads, only a few old (2009 base import ones) that don't appear on the GIS system and didn't make sense compared to the aerial.

When you get it done, PM me and I can lock it at a high level for you...

Oh, if you are leaving notes for yourself in URs, make sure that you make it clear that it's for you - I use a keyboard shortcut that turns "qw" into "Please do not edit or close without PMing Area Manager "AndyPoms" in the Waze forums at www.waze.com/forum Thanks". It's built in on iPhone, but you need an app to do it in Andriod (I've posted a link somewhere in the fourm, I think it's called FireKeys or something similar).

Hi

Yeah that was a terrible experience. After taking 10 minutes to get to the spot LOL it is outdated.

I drove the first 3 loops about a week ago, added the names etc. The "new" Navy Dr opened a few days ago, I drove that and paved it but it came out terrible. It's possible the UR was because that was opened now. I got starred down by the work crews for driving aimlessly through their new road LOL

I guess I'll just have at it again sometime this week..
