George Washington Parkway

Postby HolesInAlbertHall » Thu Jan 10, 2019 5:21 pm

Has anyone else had this problem using Waze to go from Maryland to DC using the George Washington Parkway? When I start out, the map is fine, showing the route off of I-495 down the parkway to one of the bridges to enter DC. However, when I get off I-495, the directions go haywire, trying to send me back into Maryland and other wacky routes. It never gets it figured out until maybe Francis Scott Key Bridge. Really annoying. Using Waze on an iPhone. Going on for months. Thanks.

What type of vehicle do you have selected in your settings? Is it Electric vehicle?

Honda Clarity plug-in. But same thing happens when not connected to the car's system.

and did you have the problem this morning? There was a change made the evening of 6 Jan that should have fixed the problem about 3 am this morning on the app's map.

My last drive into DC was Jan. 5. It is selected for electric, but why should that matter? Should I select private?

No, but there is a bug where some trucks prohibited restrictions were changed to allowable private, taxi, and motorcycle. The parkways were fixed but it appears to have come back on a few segments.

FYI, electric only has any significance in New Jersey where all electric vehicles can have some extra permissions.

But the fix to the GW Pkwy is in the app as of this am and should not affect your routing again.

Just so you know you weren't the only one affected. Here is a update request that told us about it.

My advice is to set your vehicle type back to Private. There are just too many roads where the permissions haven’t been updated correctly.
