Adding Covered Bridges to the WME

Post by madcatvt
We've come up with another interesting project, adding all the covered bridges in VT to the WME.
This would allow folks to map to them in Waze if they are looking for them.
This would include the bridges that are no longer in use. Johnsninja started a covered bridge list. If you are interested in assisting with this project, request access to the document and include your waze username when requesting.
Thanks,
Mike

Thank you MadcatVT for your start and interest in this project. A little more of a history, DMCrandall found a listing on Vermont.Gov and we extracted the Lat/Lon to start the list and used that to make PLs. The sheet has links to an approximate location of the bridges based off the Vermont.Gov KMZ file, which should make it easy to find if you can edit in the area. This is clearly not the entire list of covered bridges for the state but a good start.

A couple things that would be useful for those that would like to help with this project.
-Cut the road for the bridge segment like this example in Charlotte. This way if the bridge is ever under construction later on or closed we can add an Closure easily.
-Categories should be "Tourist Attraction / Historic Site" and "Bridge"
-Lock to L2 if you can
-for those Rank3+ editors try to link to any google places

Should be fun, thank you again MadcatVT

Only thing I noticed on your google doc is in Pittsford, Gorham Bridge is the name of the covered bridge, not OGorham as listed. Appears to be correct within waze. Sorry, can't help with the Rockingham bridge

There are some that aren't listed since they are not in use anymore. Some of those will be a little more difficult to identify. If you know of any please let us know.

The current list (link below) is very close to completion. There's one bridge that I cannot find on the map (any map for that matter). Does anyone have any information this bridge?
Rockingham - Hitchock-Cormier Covered Bridge

In addition, are there bridges missing from the list that need to be mapped?
I know of several missing from the list since they are not in use.
If you have some time to help complete this project please send me a PM.
Thanks,
Mike

That's a tough one. No wonder I couldn't find it. I don't have access to edit that area as well. Maybe someone else could take it on and locate it.

The last bridge isn't really on a road. Its in the woods behind a guys house. I linked the area below. I don't have high enough level to add it and there's no cell coverage there so I don't even have the area unlocked. The address is 105 ATCHERSON HOLLOW RD , ROCKINGHAM , VT

The LAT LON is 43.16235° N 72.55120° W
