Regarding Waze navigation errors reported by users

Postby majorjc_MS » Mon Dec 15, 2014 12:46 pm

When a user reports an error and it shows that the waze provided route is not the most direct route to the destination, I want to let the user know how the waze navigation algorithm works. I want to make sure my understanding is correct, so please read my comment below that I send to users and let me know if this is correct or if I should word it differently for better clarity.

Waze records speed data for road segments and intersection wait times. It uses this data to determine routes for navigation. If waze is suggesting a route that is longer or less direct than the route you are trying to take it may be due to missing data for the suggested route. You can drive the suggested route a few times and let waze record speed and time of day information on the suggested route and if it is indeed slower then waze will make corrections to future navigation on that street.

Well said. That is correct and worded pretty clearly.
