Wrong Driving Instructions

Postby CBenson » Wed Sep 07, 2011 7:10 pm

I have received the following from a user with respect to an update request here:
At the intersection of RT 193 (Glenn Dale BLVD) and Daisy Lane, the application tells me I must turn left and go back to Lanham Severn Road and double back to South Glen Dale Blvd. In fact, a simple right turn is the best alternative here.

I don't see anything amiss in the map that would cause this. Anyone have any suggestion on why waze wouldn't route through a right turn at this intersection?

Turn Restrictions, all up and down Glenn Dale Blvd.

Likely the only valid route without violating the turn restrictions was the one given.

Interesting. Those turn restrictions aren't showing up in Cartouche... usually Cartouche is the one to trust when it comes to this stuff, but I'm not so sure.

Usually when I run into the two editors disagreeing like this, I'll just break, save, and reconnect each junction with Papyrus, usually there's a hidden node, double node, or stub segment involved.

Hmm. I don't have access to chrome during the day. I'll look to make corrections in Papyrus tonight. As far as I can tell the intersection has never been edited. I am surprised that Cartouche wouldn't show the correct conectivity. I wonder whether this is a flaw in the basemap import default settings and how they are shown in Cartouche and Papyrus.

So what does mean when the arrow is green when you highlight the segment, but red when you hit shift-A? Like here.

The green arrows mean (When Shift-A is disabled) that the highlited segment is connected to the other segment.
A red arrow means the segment isn't connected to the other segment.

(Shift-A enabled)
When it's enabled is show red arrows when (1 or more) segments are not connected to each other.

In this case the middle road isn't connected to the left-bottom road;)

To expand on this, when you are using 'Shift-A' you are seeing a summary of the turn restrictions for every restricted turn at the particular intersection vs. just the restricted turns for one segment.
