I'm trying to setup a route for my holiday. It is about 1350km and everytime I try to calculate this route, I get a server time-out.

I love using Waze, but for this longer routes it doesn't work very well.

1,350 km driving distance or straight-line between the start and stop points? That is awfully close to the current limitation of 1,000 mile maximum routes and may be why Waze won't give you a route.

I have not been able to route between my parents home in Albany, GA and my home in Newfield, NY in months. Can someone look into this issue? Thank you

That is just over the 1000 mile limitation

That is unfortunate. I had been using Waze to take me home and had relied on it previously multiple times with no problems, then a few months ago it would no longer route.

I can't seem to generate a route to Myrtle Beach from Long Island and that's about 700 miles.

Trying to do a 1500km/932m trip and it it times out (router server time out) every time. I see there is a limitation on long trips. Is there a plan to try and resolve this issue? I use it all the time and really like it, but am very disappointed it won't support long distances.

It's been mentioned several times, but Waze is designed as a commuter app. Long trips, or routes through very congested cities can cause routing server timeouts due to the amount of calculations the routing server needs to do, so pick a spot in the middle and break your trip into two routes, that often will succeed.

Like Russ said, it's best to split long routes into two halves. Not to mention, if you have to stop at a hotel halfway, then you kinda need to route to that hotel anyhow.

Tip for the almost-1000 mile routes: Run the route in the app during off-hours. For example, between midnight and 4am. The reason the servers can time out during prime hours is that it takes a boatload of computing power to calculate in all of the traffic jams, historical times, construction delays, accidents, police reports, etc. Also, the servers are not busy calculating routes for other Wazers. The servers can handle more difficult / complicated requests when they aren't trying to keep up with everything else.

(It doesn't have to be exactly between midnight & 4:00am, but you get the idea...)

In any case, for long routes it's always good to give the route a sanity-check ahead of time. For instance if the app routes you through NYC/Washington DC at 5pm on a Friday, you're in for a disaster. It has "pretty good" algorithms in place to avoid these, but not perfect.
