IOS Waze Too Quiet when listening to music

Postby trevrobwhite » Sun Jun 05, 2016 2:18 pm

Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is a bug or if there is an easy way to fix this.

Typically I listen to music using Amazon Music via car Bluetooth both the phone volume and waze app volume is on full.

When Waze reads an instruction (using UK Katie voice) Waze turns the volume of the music down (this is excellent) the problem is she also turns herself down making it very difficult to hear the instruction.

If I use another audio feature of the car then Waze makes a call to the car and the volume is good and even if I try the dreaded TomTom all the volume of the background music is reduced and the instruction given loud and clear.

I've tried different volumes of the car, Waze and phone volume with the same issue.

Is this a bug? It would be good to get this addressed if so or perhaps have an option in Waze of how much to rescue the background music but then Waze itself should not be reduced.

I'm running Waze 4.6.0.0 on IOS 9.3.2

Many thanks.

I'm fairly confident that this is linked to one of the Bluetooth issues. I am seeing a similar posts in the android feedback thread. Unfortunately I do not know of a resolution at this time outside of this time outside of having Waze sound through your speaker, but allowing everything else to be sent through the bluetooth.

Many thanks.

Yea could be. I normally drive a Toyota Prius+ which has the issue but this week I've been away with a Ford hire car which had the same issue.

The voice is always coming through just very quiet as I'm asure Waze turns herself down as well as the background audio.

Are Waze aware of the issue do you know?

Last I remember Waze was aware of the issue, however it wasn't anything that could be fixed quickly and simply and will require an application update/release. There is no guarantee that it will come out in the next release, however.

In the meantime, I would recommend trying this workaround.

I was just having this problem with my iPhone 6 and Amazon Music. I have both the prefer Bluetooth and play to iPhone speaker (?) settings turned to off now and it seems to be fixed. Hope this helps.

I found that if I turn the volume up on Youtube app on IOS, the Waze volume sounds loud and clear.

In Waze on IOS you need to choose phone speaker as the output in Waze. Somehow that will play over Bluetooth and also silence the music during the playback.
