How are you getting from I-5 N to Water? Exit 300 I would assume.

Looks like someone removed the Lower Hawthorne segments. You can see leftover junctions here on 2nd and 3rd. Perhaps they were removed during the construction last year. Was the lower Hawthorne road closed at all?

I'll add the sections back in after a bit, letting you see the current state first.

I've added in the missing Hawthorne segments.

I have a question about the end at MLK: https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=-122.6 ... 227&zoom=7

Is all traffic forced into the right "turn lane" or is traffic also allowed to proceed straight to MLK and also turn right from there. Streetview shows two ways to get onto MLK from the lower Hawthorne.

Yes, of course, but looking at streetview, there are two entrances onto MLK from Hawthorne. Is that still correct?

Confused navigation

The app should have the updated roads today.

EDIT: I've confirmed they are there and will route along the new segments to 2nd or 3rd. Beyond that it appears to currently favor the bridge and a little back loop. With time it will learn road speeds and optimal routing.

iOS and Tapatalk have conspired to screw up this post.

You mean your normal route is using the lower level of Hawthorne that ends here?

The lower level is not present in the Waze map (check the difference with Madison St), so it tries to route you through the upper level. Not sure why it won't use one of the other W-E streets...

Confused navigation

Postby setati » Thu Jan 17, 2013 5:02 pm

Portland OR - I am coming from out west to Central Eastside.

My route - Hwy 26 EB -> 405 SB -> I-5 NB -> Water Ave SB to Hawthorne, East to Destination an Hawthorne & MLK.

Waze's idea - Hwy 26 EB -> Market St Exit -> Hawthorne Bridge -> East to Destination an Hawthorne & MLK.

So far so good. When I do not get off at Market, but go onto 405, Waze reroutes me several times. By the time I get off at Water it is rerouting me to go to Hawthorne and turn *west* to go across the Hawthorne bridge instead of turning east for 3 blocks and getting to my destination.

It has not always done this but started a somewhere around Christmas.

Any ideas of what is going on - or more importantly what I do about it?

Yes, that is it exactly - Hawthorne street which for a few blocks runs directly under Hawthorne Bridge. It used to be fine.

On Hawthorne, at MLK - EB - All traffic must turn Right onto MLK. Driving like a sane person, there is not enough time/distance to continue eastbound on Clay.

No - the curved one on the right hand side is the only one now. The other one has been permanently blocked off.
