I'm still see many URs like this. Users clearly believe that these routes are errors.

Screwy routing

Postby CTGreybeard » Sat Aug 17, 2013 2:54 pm

I'm looking at a UR here that doesn't make any sense at all. Can I ask that someone take a look at the intersection and tell me what's wrong? It looks OK to me.

Usually happens in places where there's a long red or rush hour backups for going straight or left, but right turns are quick due to turning on red.

I've been seeing a ton of these the last two or three days here in SoCal. Seems Waze adjusted something on their routing server to make it more prone to "U turn" routing than normal.

It's also seem to be happening in Malaysia.

Route off then onto same highway

Postby CTGreybeard » Sun Aug 18, 2013 6:35 pm

I've seen many UR's here where the driver is told to turn off the highway, around the roundabout and back onto the same highway.

But if you look at the green trace in this shot:

it appears that it thinks he is on the wrong lane, driving South in the Northbound lane. But that right turn that he would have to take is restricted properly.

And another today ... here

Edit: It appears that this segment was created on Aug 10. The live map routes through the long way also and avoids Christopher Rd even though it shows on the map.

That intersection in Torrington has been causing issues for a while - I finally removed & rebuilt that segment of Christopher Rd as it was showing REALLY bad speed data (like 2mph bad)... Give it some time.

Ah, I didn't think of the speed data on that segment. It will be interesting to see how it develops.

Another occurrence of right/U/right rather proceeding straight through the intersection is discussed here: viewtopic.php?f=237&t=62760

Ok maybe someone could enlighten me about this....
https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=-96.85 ... TTTTTTTFTT

Looks like the user starts out on the westside of a business on vicksburg street and wants to eventually end up on Inwood Road South.

Rather than going north on Vicksburg and west onto Lupo. Waze guides him south on Vicksburg, west on Burgess then north on memphis just to end up turning west onto Lupo just one block further.

What am I missing?
