Question regarding an address across a median in Fairfax VA

Put in a PLot road and restrict left turns in and out, and allow the u-turn at the next appropriate intersection so nav routes properly.

(I'm mobile and didn't even look at this specific situation.)

If there too many to make parking lot roads viable, then splitting the road is the only option at this time.

Now that I've gotten a look at this, I don't think it needs to be split either.

How do they turn off the street if there isn't a parking lot? If there is, then the proper way to be routed is from the other direction and that can be easily accomplished with turn restrictions.

Why? And where?

Doesn't look like too many to me here. But that is a subjective call.

Question regarding an address across a median in Fairfax VA

Postby MysticCobra » Wed May 15, 2013 5:27 pm

I was going to the gas station at this intersection (NW corner of Blake and Lee Hwy) and waze told me to go up Lee Hwy from the SW and turn left across a raised median into the gas station. I know you can't do that so I come up Pickett from the SE and turn left onto Lee and then right into the gas station.

My question: Does this need to be fixed per waze standards or is it correct as is (driver is on his/her own)? Does waze often tell drivers to turn across a median into a business? Seems like this would be a common problem.
thanks

I considered putting in a parking lot road and restricting turns. U-turn is prohibited at the next intersection but that shouldn't deter the parking lot road solution. But what about every other business on this road and others with a median? Are these roads typically split when you can't physically cross a median to a business on the left?

I'm confused by your response. There are thousands of businesses on a road with no parking lot road into the parking lot. When you get to the address on the main road, you've arrived. But in this case the business is on the left on the other side of a median.
Turn restrictions are in place at the intersections. Can turn restrictions be placed on a segment of road? Maybe that's why I'm confused.
Waze told me I was there when I was going NE on Lee Hwy and the business was on the left. I would still have to go up to the next intersection and make a U-turn (assuming its allowed) and then come back. In this case it's easy to do but my point is that it affects other areas as well. All of Lee Hwy isn't divided by a median but it is through here.

One of my first suggestion was: to put a parking lot road

IMO, I think Lee may need to be split, but I don't know if that will fix the main issue or not. Waze may still tell you to turn across the median. I'll get a couple of more people to look at it.
