Most likely old data - the last time that triangle was edited was Nov 11, 2012 - there was probably a denied turn to the west somewhere (and possibly another somewhere in the triangle).

Before we did all the primary streets in CT, there were a lot of turns (including the straight "turn") that were denied that shouldn't have been.

I just had one where it was flagged where the route was over a (non-existent) road that I had removed MONTHS ago...

I don't understand at all ...

Postby CTGreybeard » Sun Jun 09, 2013 5:40 pm

I was looking at this UR: https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=6&lat ... TTTTTTTTFT (screenshot attached) and I can't, for the life of, figure out why Waze would route the way it did no matter what destination would be chosen. :?:

Is there any logic to it that anyone can see?

OK, but why that first left in the first place? It can't possible be speed, the extra distance traveled is five times or more than simply going straight.

The only thing I can think of, and as we don't see what happens when it rejoins Sport Hill, is that it's a U-Turn maneuver. And I've seen many, many of those in inexplicable circumstances.

It is strange, as many as I have seen, that I haven't experienced any personally.

Usually there is no logic on these old-data map problem but this one seems logic

For me the guy had an original route going forward (north), and decided to turn left. Waze reroute and tried to stick to the original route, instructing to turn right to go back to the primary road. The guy moved forward according to the green line, and months later some backend decided to flag a map problem.

Yes, we've all agreed that these automatic reports are nonsense and based on very old data, but for the first time (in public) I see one that makes sense, mainly because I do see my client doing this all the time - sticking to the previous freeway/major *no matter what*, when I know the minor is better and want to go my way not waze way. In those cases I do see the client providing initial routes that don't make any sense at all, except for the stubbornness of sticking hard into the previous route.
