Map Road Type Correction Request

Post by
Hi,

Could the live maps be updated for Campbell Ave between Leigh and Meridian Ave in San Jose from Minor Arterial to Local/Residential?

Campbell Ave was reclassified by Caltrans 2 days ago and appears on their maps located here:
https://caltrans.maps.arcgis.com/apps/w ... a3e5668538

Attached is a screenshot from their online maps.

Here is a link to download the Caltrans Map change for Campbell Ave:

Hello usa_s57fj3mx,
We have contacted the San Jose Department of Transportation to confirm the signs and they responded that those signs are not put up by them. Therefore, they will be sending a truck to remove the signs.

Thank you.

The changes have been made and are still updated.

A couple things:

1. Changes made to the map do not get updated on livemap regularly. We never use livemap to determine things.
2. Changes made in the map editor take a tile update to go live in the app.
3. The tile update process is usually done once a day but has been delayed lately.
4. We just had a tile update last night but it only updated to changes made in the app up to January 8th at about 4:30pm
5. The changes I made were done on January 9th at about 4:45am.
6. You can check to see if the tile updates have caught up by checking https://status.waze.com/
Keep in mind that the times listed are in UTC, not local time zone. You need to convert.

What is weird is I checked the Live Maps after you made the change and it was corrected as Residential. Next day 1/10/2020 it was back to being a Minor Arterial.
We utilize both the Map Editor and the app. We use Livemaps as a guideline only.

I can't speak for the possible fluke you noticed in livemaps.

We are not mind readers. Can't tell from the pictures you provided what changes you are referencing? Also have no idea what country, state, city it is in since.

If this is part of the Campbell St reclassification, I have already said that I have updated it according to the functionality that caltrans has changed it to.

As I have stated, I have set the road type to the correct type as per Caltrans classification now.

Since there is no setting in Waze that supports a "no thru" sign, I will pass on to one of the CA SM to review and decide if/how they want to handle. As a general rule, "no thru" signs are pretty hard to enforce for law enforcement since there is no way for them to know if you were headed to a house and then realized you forgot to pick something up at the grocery store and it is legal to drive down the road.

Thanks, I already know how to do private installations. As I stated, I passed this on to a local map editor to review. Currently the map is set up correctly per caltrans functionality classification.

Another thing to know is that Livemap does not update regularly, and even some zoom levels update at different intervals, so zoom in and zoom out and you might see changes come and go.
