Our local community has some big construction projects occurring over this summer with a major road closure coming up this next month. I wanted to make Waze aware of this and perhaps be granted Level 3 editing access to make the road closure updates on the Waze map itself.

I'd be completely okay if another editor wanted to make these edits instead of granting me Level 3 access. I'm happy to give it a shot, too, although I think eventually the map itself will need to be updated this upcoming Fall to account for the changes as the roadway is being reduced to one lane in each direction, a new side road down to the high school is being added, and two new roundabouts are being installed.

Reason:

Dakota County, in partnership with the City of Eagan and Independent School District 196, is beginning a major reconstruction on Diffley Road (County Road 30).

This project will:

1. Narrow Diffley Road to one lane of traffic in each direction between Lexington Avenue (County Road 43) and Braddock Trail
2. Install two single lane roundabouts at Daniel Drive and Braddock Trail
3. Provide enhanced pedestrian crossings through the addition of pedestrian activated beacons and a new trail connection from Braddock Trail to south parking lot
4. Construct new access to Dakota Hills Middle School/Eagan High School's south lot from Daniel Drive
5. Improve circulation in the Dakota Hills Middle School, Eagan High School and Northview Elementary School parking lots.

Project timeline:
May 2021–late fall 2021

Monday, June 7
