I'd list the full name. The "CR-XX" is used for effiency, BUT that's because the system translates the CR to "County Road".

So at least if you go for the full name, despite it being longer I'd say "Custer State Park XX" unless you could get by with "Park Rd XX".

State Park Roads

Postby Lequs » Fri Nov 07, 2014 4:47 am

Just getting to updating roads in Custer State Park. A lot of their roads are named in this manner "Custer State Park ##" I was debating how to name those.
The craving for efficiency in me wants to name them all like "CSP-##" seeing how that's the method for county roads and up.
But I can't find any forum posts or anything in the wiki about it specifically except for the "if in doubt spell it out".
The concern is how the client would say it. It would make sense for a driver if it said "see ess pee" for CSP but worried it might say something like "cusp".

I guess my question is what naming method would you all suggest?

I think the best would be to be consistent with how the roads are signed. I looked at Google and they show the CSP-xx and a road name, Bing however just show the road name. The State Park map also show both.

What is displayed on the street signs? CSP-xx or the name or both?

I would lean to the primary naming matching the signage.

Custer State Park is a little different due to its size and multiple entrances.
