Routing question Zürich-La Punt-Chamues-ch (Engadin)

Postby MaLiNinja98 » Mon Sep 23, 2019 10:35 am

Hi everyone

I am a happy Waze user since several years and it works great most of the time. Several times per year I drive from Zürich to La Punt-Chamues-ch and Waze doesn't give me any useful directions. The best waze route suggested is between 6 and 7 hours. I drive there in under 3 hours over the Albula pass in Summer or the Julier pass in winter. When I'm taking the way back I am also never routed back over the Albula pass. I checked the map but I don't see any restrictions on this route. Is there another explanation? It would be great to understand if it is an error or if there is another explanation.

Thank you&best regards
Marc

Do you have the Swiss Vignette? Did you add it to Waze?
http://www.waze-switzerland.ch/vignette

In the Waze App (not the Lifemap on the Website, this still don't know the Swiss Vignette), when I enter a way over Zürich to La Punt-Chamues-ch, it shows me the way through the Vereina-Tunnel. Flüelapass is 15 Minutes longer.

Thank you, you are right, Before posting I checked it in the live map and the 6-7 hours is without CH Vignette.
In my App CH Vignette is active but it never shows me the route over Albula pass. Probably Waze thinks this way is slower than Julier pass. Vereinatunnel is a costly and most of the time depending on the train departures a slower alternative. Last time I checked the route from La Punt back to Zurich Waze sent me through Italy thats what makes me think it doesn't work properly.

Albula has for longer trips a lower priority, because it's only a "primary-street" and not a minor highway.

I will give Albula a higher routing priority (still looks like primary, but Wazes routing is like minor highway).
In 2-4 days (see http://status.waze.com/INTL Map builds) we will see, if it helps.

I just tried it again last week. Albula pass was shown as a slower route than Julier pass. I was 26 min faster from Tiefencastel to La Punt compared to what Waze expects. There are several points where the expected arrival time jumps 3 min ahead. On the way back I observed the same issue.

Just checked now:

Google Maps:
- Albula 0:53
- A3: 1:08

Waze (Livemap without Swiss-Highways  ):
- Julier 0:32
- Albula 0:52

Sounds good to me! :D

For easy verification at another time, just click on the links above.

No idea about the 3 min. flipping around... (except for lost GPS-Signals and thinking you have to turn)
