Washington Twp: Waze routing/direction error, unsure why

Post by zohar760
A UR came across from a user that was trying to navigate to an address on Kildare Drive in Washington Township. They indicated that Waze had tried to take them through a subdivision that was close to the destination, but did not have a through connection to where they were headed.

I tried to navigate to 64019 Kildare Drive, and was able to replicate the error. This is where Waze says I should be stopping:

Note that Inverness does not connect in any way to Kildare Drive, which you can see off to the right. I checked on the house numbers to see if perhaps the house had a stop point connected to the wrong street, but it doesn't appear to be the case. The destination is clearly attached to Kildare Drive:

What is causing Waze to think that you can get from where the route stopped, to the destination, where there's clearly no connection? Permalink to the segment highlighted above can be found here.

Any help would be appreciated!

In addition to TeeDee55's feedback, since the Waze house number was an import that had not yet been touched by an editor in WME, Waze would have been using the pin location in Google regardless of its positioning in WME. The dirt road setting in the app should not be a factor here routing to this destination. I just "bumped" the house number, which you can see whenever a house number should "last edited by [x]", and future searches should now reflect the Waze location. You will likely have to clear your nav history for the app to route properly though.

This is my guess... since Waze uses the long/lat of a particular address to find the CLOSEST street to the address, the location of the address indicator is closer to the other street.

The fix seems to be to highlight the address street segment, click on the edit address box on the left side of the screen, and move the stop point so it is close to the street.

Although I am only a level 2 editor, this is a typical problem with houses that are far from the street.

Hope I explained this well enough.

Thank you both for the insight. I'll give the map time to update and will clear my nav history before I check if this UR can be closed.

Thanks again!

Just an update on this issue -

After the house number was bumped, it still wasn't routing correctly. I headed over to Google to see where they placed the marker, and sure enough, the Google place marker was all the way out in left field. I updated the place marker to be closer to the street in Google, and routing is now fixed.

Thank you everyone for helping out with this!
