No land for the Cayman Islands

Post by KnowaSpark
I've been busy mapping out all the primary roads of the Cayman Islands and there is no land... all my roads (when seen in the client app) are floating on the Atlantic Ocean and if anything they really should be floating on the Caribbean Sea...
This doesn't affect navigation but it does mean the app is all blue and is missing the coastline which is a major landmark on small islands like these.
I was about to embark on using the Sea landmark and even the Beach and Island landmark but I figure there might be a better way or a best practice (e.g. I've seen reference in the US threads to the water layer).
Any suggestions?

Sorry to pull this zombie thread -- figured it might be worth mentioning the issue / solution.

This is likely the same issue that we were experiencing in the Vancouver, BC, Canada area. The water layer was not accurate.

I was informed this week that Waze is currently deploying a fix, which should be fully in place for the world in the next 3-4 weeks.

Hey Dylan,

Nice thought, but no, that's just a "seam" -- those landmarks go around the island correctly and shouldn't be causing any issues.

There are ongoing issues with the water layer. I'll escalate this to the contact I have with Waze Staff and see if he can voice some input.

Dear all, i applied as Area Manager for the Cayman islands and attempted a fix for this issue. The issue where water was covering land areas will be solved in a few days with the next server update.

Hey,

I've been working with Google map maker for quite a while, editing for the Cayman Islands. I recently started driving so I joined Waze.

This Problem still exists heavily in certain parts of the island, Grand Cayman.
For example:

While it should look like this:

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/xziwqmcqy64k1v ... M.png?dl=0

I think the two conflicting oceans are causing the problem:

I would be happy to assist anyone in fixing this issue

Thanks

Dylan

Here's an example for Grand Cayman west side (where you can see I added a sea landmark):

And here is a screenshot showing the Atlantic Ocean:
