Greetings (with a gift!)

Hello Montana editors!

AlanOfTheBerg has opened up an area for me around Miles City, so as soon as that processes, I'll be joining you all :)

As a new employee often wins initial goodwill by bringing donuts on day 1, I bring you a virtual equivalent with a Montana localization for the WME Validator:

https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/16052-wme-validator-localization-for-montana

I strongly urge you to read my recommendations for Validator checkbox selection for maximum benefit. If you edit in more than one State, please remember to toggle this script OFF when outside Montana, or every road will show up as an error there due to having a non-Montana State.

I'm in regular contact with TheChrisK, so as soon as TTS changes for S-xxx for secondary highways are in play, I'll update the Validator to flag "State Hwy xxx" as an error to help everyone find instances to update to the new standard.

If you have any other checks you'd like added, I'm quite happy to do so!

About me: Home base for me is Lincoln, NE, but I lived for a time in Helena as part of a statewide lottery project (as I also did in Boise, ID), so I know my Montana geo reasonably well from either travelling to each city, or repeatedly working with field technicians at retail locations all around the remaining cities/towns. I chip in wherever I can in Waze, and have officially made it a "serious" hobby by adding an external bluetooth GPS for increased accuracy, and a dashcam for capturing my drive information and audio narrations. My wife is confused but understanding... she knits, so I refer to my map work as "my knitting." :)

Pleased to meet you all!

Welcome herrchin to Montana and we thank you for the special gift ! It will come in handy . Miles City . . the barren lands of Mt . : ) Well I know you know your way around Waze and have familiarized yourself with the Montana Wiki. Feel free to post what you consider might be beneficial for the state.

We're currently using State Hwy ### for now until the switch is made to S ###. You will find plenty of state highways labeled as SR and SH.

Due to the large amount of back roads, farm roads and dirt roads I would suggest you familiarize yourself on our state standards for marking them as such.

Our wiki page is currently being updated with pertinent information as you have noticed. Once again feel free to post your thoughts either in the to-do-list forum.

Welcome to Montana ;)

Do you want SR and SH to be treated as valid or invalid (from the Validator highlighting perspective)?

Yep, already done, was literally the first thing I went looking for :) Quite similar to Nebraska's. We have a huge number of gravel roads that are Primary Streets. Does Montana have any requirement where there must be a minimum of an improved road "aka gravel or better" from the intersection of a rural private driveway with a public road, to the nearest collector? As an example, in NE, if there's a lone house along what would otherwise be a dirt road (but county/public road, not private), the portion of that road from the driveway to the next collector over (which also might be gravel, or could be paved) will be improved/gravel, but the rest of the road in the other direction from the driveway could be dirt?

Invalid if you could make that happen that would be great.

Our dirt roads are treated almost identical to Nebraska's FC. For instance here, where the street has traversed into a dirt road. So we do not have a requirement that you're speaking of.

Done! (one way to force an immediate update is by going to the original greasy-fork install page and reinstalling over the top [prompts vary by browser]).

There's a small chance of matching some legitimate road if it has a really strange name like "Roadish-9" :)

Example, and note how it also catches the ramps: https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lon=-108.48742&lat=45.76829&zoom=5&segments=28980222

Nice fix! This will work out great for catching all the little inconsistencies with our highways system.

I've found some secondaries in this format: "Rte 447". I've added checks to catch "Rte 447" and "Rte-447" text. I don't think there are any false-positive matches on that, but if there are let me know.

Is CR-446 actually a valid use anywhere, or is that always an error and reflects a highway that should be MT-xx or State Hwy xx depending on primary/secondary? For example, I found (by hand) CR-446 which should be State Hwy 446, but I'm not currently highlighting an error for CR-446.
