POLL: Driveway Mapping Proposal
The discussion (see viewtopic.php?f=649&t=243988) having run its course over two weeks, it is now being put up as a poll. Although the original recommendation was to map driveways over 800m (1/2-mile) much of the feed back suggested 400m (1/4) mile, so that is how the poll is presented.
The poll will run seven days. If approved, it replaces 3 of the 5 criteria for mapping rural driveways on the Montana Wazeopedia page. https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/USA/Mo ... vate_Roads:
Mapping rural diveways
• 50 to 399m (164 to 1309ft) : If an address/location cannot be reasonably guided to without a private driveway, as might be the case with the residence being closer to an adjacent street, it can be added.
CHANGED—Rationale: Incorporates 50m minimum length guidance from national Wazeopedia.
• 400m (1312ft) or more: Map it. Do not delete existing driveways already meeting this criterion.
ADDED—Rationale: New policy.
• Single house at the end of a 1mi (1609m) private drive, and that's the only house, it probably isn't needed.
DELETED—Rationale: Superseded by new policy which is covered in the second bullet.
• If it's 5 houses at the end of a single shared 1/4mi (402m) long private drive, it probably is needed.
DELETED—Rationale: Superseded by new policy which is covered in the second bullet.
• If it's a house at the end of a 500m (1640 ft) long private drive which is right up against another street from which you cannot access the address (stop point will be on the segment closest), then a private drive is probably needed. Per AlanOfTheBerg guidelines
DELETED—Rationale: This is covered in the first bullet.
No part of this change is meant to conflict with the national Wazeopedia which allows for deviations once reviewed by regional or state leadership. https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/USA/Driveways.
