Subscribe to segment change

Hi,
we all know some area where there is a big risk of mistake. Like a recent change that is not visible in aerial view. And sometimes an editor comes and break your changes by mistake.

The lock level is sometimes a good solution but not always, as a high level can still edit, and another editor can ask for an unlock.

So I think a nice feature could be to "subscribe to segment change".

For every segment there could be a checkbox. If I click it, then my account is subscribed to the changes of that segments.
If anyone edits the segment I receive a message so I can check.

I am, it would be better than nothing :)
But I'm afraid that it could be slow if my browser has to load segments just to check ...

Until maybe one day staff will eventually and possibly say that this can be available "soon".. I already do this with a Chrome add-on, if you're interested as a temporary solution ;)

This is the tool: Distill Web Monitor
viewtopic.php?t=186410

You can set it to watch part of a page, so what I do is first get the URL at the top to be the permalink with the segment I want to watch selected, then I tell it to watch the "Last updated by: date+username" field, and anytime someone touches it I get notified.

In case someone splits or deletes the segment, the ID in the permalink would no longer be valid, but you can enable the add-on now to tell you when it checked but that there is an error. This way you know the ID you were watching was changed or deleted.

It can check at any frequency you want (minutes, hours, days, weeks, months), so you can easily make it not so often that it would slow down your computer too much.
