ETA & TBR during holyday

Post by wrocco
Some working week days might be a holiday once a year for some national celebration, and should be treated specially, not only for the ETA calculation, but also for TBR (Time Based Rules) for routing.
It might be an 8th day of the week with its own stats and be activated for requiring countries based on a given dates list .

As far as I was aware this is already an active feature, maybe country specific. For several years Waze ignores all TBRs over the Christmas week (or two) in the UK believing this a special period. I'm sure there are other periods (Easter I think) in the year this can occur but can't be sure.

A word with your Country Admin / Coordinator might get more info from HQ

MapSir wrote:We checked the issues in England and it seems the issue is only in England because:
- the TBR is defined on Mon-Fri
- Dec 24 to 31 are defined in our DB for England as 'Christmas Week'
- For those dates we assume that Sat/Sun rules apply, and as such allow going through those TBRs
Basically, to improve Waze routing when traffic is anomalous, Waze has a "holiday" mode. During the period of an expected holiday, Waze uses weekend traffic patterns as it's base model during the week. With London having so many users, I would expect traffic estimates to be pretty good regardless of the base model being used. But it looks like, whilst using weekend traffic patterns, Waze also uses weekend restrictions! :o
