UR Priorities

UR's come in many flavors, some we can get away with for a while, others, however effect users in a major way daily. I consider what we as map editors find and report on the same.

I propose we add on a priority system which red flags those edit requests in order of priority so those higher up can key in on them first. A numeric system would work fine without really any app changes at first. Just label the requests PR1 for very high, down to PR3 or so for "It'd be nice but not really urgent."

Opinions?

It's not a bad idea, if there is something which affects a lot of users, then a lot of users will submit URs near the same location. So, density of URs is already a key in determining. Map Problems, automated, already work this way.

How do you propose to get Wazers to follow a priority tagging? Send a message to all users' inboxes perhaps?

I really was aiming this at Map Editors dealing with issues that they themselves can not handle, either due to their level vs. the level required reference to the segment or that they feel it is too complicated for them.

As far as actual Wazers driving, It would be nice to not allow them to leave a general message unless they describe the situation, either with a drop down list or to refer to it later when they have the time and/or it is safe enough to input. Until then, the issues should not show up as a UR. I spend a lot of time (usually wasted) trying to figure out whether there's a real issue or the sun got blocked by a cloud. :)

Thanks for responding, Alan!

I like this idea too however if there is an urgent map issue a PM should probably be sent to your regional coordinator. Interstates & freeways should probably take the highest priority, followed by major then minor hwys, and then primary streets.

As for on the Wazers end, a lot of new apps have a quick/brief "How to" demo before you can even use the app. I think implementing this for the reporting feature would be great. Key things to focus on getting across to the wazer, don't just submit an empty report (we aren't mind readers), place a pin at the problem (not 30 miles way when you are home), & include a way for us to contact them for additional details ( I know this is available in WME Beta but unfortunately in the meantime I don't have access to it)
