Since the road you are on generally only takes up the center third of the screen, I'd do everything I could to move data to the outer thirds.

Which proves that the client is already capable of dynamically a) resizing and b) relocating the top bar.

"Main St" only needs one line, but an exit ramp like "Exit 22S: State Rte 9 S / Middletown / Old Saybrook" or "Exit 7A: I-695 S / to I-295 S / Throgs Neck Bridge / Long Island" really need two lines.

Given the capabilities mentioned above, it should be no problem to keep the bar height one line and temporarily devote any longer-named segments (nearly) as much space, as they would require.

I totally agree with you Kelemvor33. And I especially like your layout screenshots. Brilliantly done! I also have one which isn't quite as good but it has minor changes using elements Waze already has. For instance, the navigation bar on top is the one used when notifications pop up on screen. Even minimising that makes such a huge difference. Here's my idea.

BUMP!!!

This thread has been dead for a while but the landscape UI still uses a giant top bar and a center bottom bar??
The Landscape UI need a re-design with information and guidance information put to the side, looks absolutely stupid to have a high end super phone with a gorgeous screen and then only have a third of it showing the maps???

Any plans to do anything about this in the future????

I've been complaining about this for almost 3 years now ... from the date the first v3 beta arrived on 6 Sept 2011! :?

Very good suggestions are posted in this thread. Landscape design is one of the most stupid things in Waze and it looks like it is much more fun to present basically useless social features comparing to producing something that would make sense for everybody..
