New Vehicle Type

Postby CM-Driver » Sat Apr 16, 2016 1:05 pm

I drive a commercial vehicle or big truck. I think you should add truck or commercial vehicle to your vehicle type and have your app eliminate routes that have truck restrictions. Like most carpool / express lanes.

Re: WAZE for truckers

Postby DamnYankeeFrankie » Sat May 21, 2016 1:40 pm

"Truck GPS Route Navigation" by Teletype on GooglePlay is very accurate for Truck Routing with attention to options like weight, height, axles, hazmat and length. WAZE can buy them out & add to WAZE. Even if WAZE offered PAID SUBSCRIPTION OPTION for Trucks, I'm sure many Truckers would sign up & pay. I'm paying $50 year for the current Trucker App mentioned above & it's no where near as fun as WAZE is but it helps me stay on legal roads. WAZE, opening the doors to Truckers will be an algorithm tsunami!! Truckers run all roads across the country 24/7/365.

Re: truck driving features

There will be some limited truck features coming soon which will tie in with the ability to restrict certain roads to particular types of vehicles. Not everything you want but it will be a significant development. Keep an eye out for news.

Re: Trucks contribution

gordonski wrote:The problem of this feature would be, that Waze would have to filter out the speed data of trucks when calculating average segment speeds and slow-downs, since trucks usually drive slower than cars, especially on freeways. (Over here, vehicles with a max weight above 3.5 tons are limited to 80km/h / 50mph) Furthermore we would need a totally new kind of restrictions and reports, e.g. for roads that a closed for trucks but open for cars.
So all in all this is a similiar discussion as "Waze for bicycles" and so far Waze has not shown any willingness to integrate modes for different transportation categories...

This is nothing more than a addition of a feature which would include user's vehicle ie. car/truck for truck a certain values would be integrated and a route calculated based on the information about the vehicle.

You are completely missing the point here. Once the "truck mode" is recognized the fine tuning can begin with other features you mentioned. The simple fact is that it's nothing more than a car attempting to select a scenic route to go from point A to B vs. Shortest vs. Fastest.

The flexibility of the app ought to be an upmost of importance otherwise what's point in sharing the info when the only route that's always is selected is option A.

Maximum speed redused calculated arraive time

Postby fredrikj1973 » Wed Jun 08, 2016 4:01 pm

Im driving with a caravan a lot and max speed is 80kmh.
The calculated time when to arrive is on the roads max speed for example 110kmh.
There would be nice if you can set max allowed speed in the app and then calculate arrive time after that.
50kmh and 70kmh are as normal but 90, 110, 120kmh is set to 80kmh.
I think that would be nice to all truckers also there max speed is 80kmh in Sweden as well.

Re: Vehicle Type = RV

Seconded as an RV owner it would be useful to use waze and not have to buy a GPS thats specific to RVs.

Trucks, RVs etc.. specs for routing

Postby ghosttrack » Thu Sep 18, 2014 10:07 am

I suggest to implement features for the trucks or to develop a version dedicated to truck drivers that cooperate with the regular version.
Few navigators do it, are very expensive, and Waze could have much success because there are many trucks and drivers would be prolific of reports, adjustment and so on.
They work on streets days and nights, so who better than them to have quick and massive amount of any kind of reports?
My brother use Waze even on truck and he loves it as me, but lucks of specific indications that a truck driver need such unallowed streets by bridge highness, weight limit, and so on, for example.

Add restrictions like length, width and height

Postby GigaaG » Fri Apr 22, 2016 10:21 am

Hello,
I was wondering why we can't add this information in the map. I think it's a great feature for truck drivers but also for RV's (campers) and trailers. You can already set restrictions in de WME for species of traffic, days and times, so why not for truck restrictions like:
- Closed for trucks / RV's;
- Closed for vehicles longer than X meter / feet;
- Closed for vehicles wider than X meter / feet;
- Closed for vehicles higher than X meter / feet;
- Closed for vehicles with an axle load more than X tons;
- Closed for vehicles heavier than X tons;
- Closed for trucks with hazardous substances;
- Closed for vehicles with more than X axles..

Thereby, you can set your max. speed, so your ETA will be updated to your max. speed :)

If you are a truck driver, you switch the truckers option on in the settings (or download Waze for trucker drivers), fill in the fields and there you go! Maybe een an option for agricultural traffic!

I think this can be a great feature for the truck drivers and hereby you create a whole new audience for Waze!

Greets,
