Would be cool, especially as my daily usage has gone up a lot.

I would like a HUD (Head-Up Display) option.

Me gustaría la opción HUD (Sistema de Información en Parabrisas).

Thanks/Gracias

Hud glasses are becoming more common and help to keep the attention on the road, so having a hud display on waze will make it safer and very useful. Would be a great feature.

SOLVED!!!

I'm already using Waze in HUD mode in my car for a few months now.

I simply jailbreak my iPhone, install HUD Mode app, and voila... real time HUD Waze on my windscreen! I use Activator app (also from Cydia) to activate HUD Mode (just by tapping and holding the Status Bar for 1 second), and everything is flipped/reversed, then I just have to put my iPhone on top of the dash (right in my line of sight, but a bit lower so as not to distract my vision of the road).

I use a washable sticky dash patch for gadgets to hold the phone in place securely but easily removable. And to enhance the reflection on the glass, I put a special HUD patch (8 inch) on the glass (got it online), which make it much easier to read Waze information, especially at Dawn/Dusk. Well, I'm telling you it is still pretty useless during the day (I use a magnetic holder suction-capped to the top of the glass for daytime driving), but in the evening, pure bliss. So much easier on the eyes, with a much farther focus, and with just enough brightness so as not to distract when the road is too dark. I can see clearly all the display in Waze screen, including Time (which is very tiny). As for on-screen traffic info, well, you can't read them safely anyway while driving.

As far as I know, this is the best solution for those wanting HUD mode for Waze, well, that is until Waze programmers decide to throw in this feature anyway.
Unfortunately, AFAIK also, I can't find similar app for Android, so for the time being, this is just for iPhone users (who are willing to jailbreak). Sorry.

Cheers,

Hi Marian,

The application is called "Heads Up Display Mode". Actually, "Activator" is not really necessary, it just allows you to assign gestures/swipes for doing multiple tasks at the same time, like ex. swiping down on the screen to simulate a Home Button press so you don't have to press the physical button, ever. I use Activator to start Waze, turn on GPS/Location, and start HUD Mode, with just a single swipe.
So don't forget to jailbreak your iPhone first before installing HUD Mode, because you can't find HUD Mode in the App Store.

Have fun,
Damiano

OK, here is another solution for the lack of HUD mode in Waze:

I just tried the so-called "Android Rearview Mirror" which as the name says is an Android powered smart rearview mirror, complete with a 5-inch touchscreen, front facing camera and an included rear camera, so it can also act as a car DVR that can simultaneously record videos fed from the front and rear cams. But what's most important to me is the Android part. I just intall Waze in it and then use it as I normally would in my iPhone. You get a very clear and bright 5-inch screen for day and night navigation, and in my case, freeing both my iPhone and car DVR, and most importantly, clearing up the clutters on the windscreen (from mountings for both phone and DVR) for a safer drive. This is really convenient because although I still have to use my iPhone as a hotspot to enable the mirror to receive updates, advisory and news from Waze since the mirror doesn't have 3G/SIM card (there are more expensive models with 3G), at least I don't have to charge the phone while in the car, since Waze is not running on the phone itself. Needless to say, this is the new best solution for me since I wrote about using HUD mode in my iPhone while running Waze on the road. And in fact, I think this is even better than an HUD solution, because the mirror is facing you so you can touch it easily and safely, rather than trying to touch your phone which is lying flat on top of the dashboard. For more information, please send me a PM.

This is my simple solution (for the time being) for HUD Mode in Waze. Like I said in my previous posting, I use a jailbroken iPhone 5S with Heads Up Display Mode app from Cydia to invert my screen, so it projects Waze screen in HUD mode on the windscreen (the iPhone can be seen lying down on top of the dashboard). This only works in the evening, and I put a small piece of HUD film on the glass, to make the projection clearer. Just check the picture:
