AFAIK, people are already using Waze with external devices.

Oh, I just remembered something: wasn't there a setting that Waze wasn't allowing from the OS? Because an external GPS device means you essentially have to allow location spoofing, because that external device could be anything and may be feeding false/fake GPS.

Yep, I got all that and I know that other devices like http://www.amazon.com/Dual-Electronics- ... b_title_ce have been reported to work in other threads on the forum.

Waze doesn't support external GPS directly. It's got to come through the OS. Waze just reads GPS using the provided OS functionality.

External GPS support

Postby ControlNode » Thu Nov 07, 2013 11:42 am

This is more for map editors wanting to "pave roads" more accurately. As we all know the internal GPSs in our devices are not that great on exact location. There are BlueTooth GPS devices that support 1/5/10Hz so the update rate would be very high, and in the case of the 5hz much more accurate. If added it should most likely be in the advanced settings to configure it.

OK, I will look around some more. I know for my race logging apps they default to the internal GPS and I have to pair my BT unit and configure those apps to use it. Since I saw no options to select an external I was thinking there was no support.

Ask user GPSRitter about that. He's a specialist for that. ;)
