Yes. You must create a skins folder inside the Documents folder in the app, and all subfolders as you see then in the app skins folder. Waze will pull from any exiting files inside Documents instead of the original scheme files.

Does the duplicate skins folder in the Documents folder need to be populated with the same files as the original folders?

*golf clap*

very nice. I might have to use that as a starting point if I decide to start tweaking. Also, you must be very local to me...

Edit: just loaded it, might just keep that for a while. My car has red-orange dash lights so I'll probably get pissed off and tweak the colors eventually, but then again I did replace the map lights with pure red LEDs for the night vision...

any way to set up multiple night mode options, or can you only have one at a time?

OK peep holes, I'm not sure what I messed up here.

I basically took reefland's red schema and shifted all the colors to orange-red (I tried to keep everything at about 15 degrees on the color wheel if that makes sense,) and I thought that I would be nice and add comments to help both myself and others to tweak in the future. Loaded my new schema for the first time and nothing - I can only see my car, traffic reports, and other wazers - in other words, nothing for which the color is controlled by the schema. Deleted all comments, figuring that was the problem, same result. reefland's schema still works fine though (I reloaded it.) If someone could tell me what I messed up I would greatly appreciate it.

My only thought is that perhaps this is not true 32 bit color and that only some values are allowed, and since I basically picked all the changes I made straight off a color wheel, that I might have inadvertantly used disallowed colors?

Thanks for the comments go to sketch and PhantomBlack, I pretty much lifted those from the other thread.

Well, I'm not sure what I messed up originally but I definitely messed something up. I just started over with the default night scheme and input the colors I'd picked out for it, worked great. Tweaked it a little, even better. Then I put a couple comments back in to test, seemed to be OK. Put some more comments in, some features started not showing up anymore. So I'm not sure what the deal is with comments but it appears to be a bad idea to add them. Will post scheme if I'm still happy with it after a couple days' use.

OK, I used my "BMW-Red" (really and orange red) scheme all weekend and I'm not sure it's the best for readability, but it does go nicely with the dash lighting in my car. So here it is, enjoy and if anyone wants to improve it go nuts (I really didn't spent a whole lot of time on it; I got the color pretty much right on the first try, but if I had more time I'd probably play with the "color" layers to make the roads pop more.)

Edit: forgot to add, I loaded the "Randy Mac" daytime theme and have been using that as well, I like that one. Better than any of the options that come standard save for possibly the default although I think it may be easier to read than the default.

Updating with crappy screenshot - I'm paranoid enough I didn't want to do one at my house, haven't been anywhere that I could show water (same color as original) or parks (dark green w/ slightly lighter green text) yet but I will do so if I remember next time I'm out.

yes, I have just been renaming day/12/schema to schema.default, inserting my new schema in there as e.g. schema.randymac and then copying and pasting the latter as "schema" (no extension) that makes my new schema the default, likewise for night mode.

I just *finally* got around to copying over my custom schemas today after the latest update, oh, forever ago. Using randymac for day and my own "BMW-red" schema for night.

Revised "BMW-night" (orange red) schema with cities now faintly showing - was bothering me and I finally fixed it.

Re: Color schemes thread

I can't seem to find the original thread where someone (sketch?) posted what the various parameters were for, but I've found another one, street type "Walking Trail" does show in the client and in the schema files it is "Trails". So we have usages for everything except "Pedestrian" and "Walkway" at this point (wish I could find that other thread...!)

Also, you can add the opacity octet to any color, not just the ones that have it in the Waze provided schemas. I tried it to make the city names a little fainter and it works great.

I'm still tweaking my night schema but don't feel that it's "done" enough to post updated code.

Also, something else I've noticed is that I'm not seeing road names for dirt roads. Is that something configurable in the schema, or is that a fundamental property of the Dirt Road/4x4 Trail street type? If the latter I may have to make a suggestion in the appropriate forum, as there are a lot of dirt roads around me and I think that they should properly be left as such so that users can choose not to be routed on them (some of them are useful shortcuts but at the same time in pretty rough shape, with a non-zero possiblity of getting someone stuck and/or causing a lot of paint damage to a low to the ground sports car...)

Got bored and made a spreadsheet with a couple of the Waze provided schemes, my own BMW theme, and most importantly, comments.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/7ixw6ccqs9iov ... 0maker.xls

If you look at the "Vitamin C" theme there are more navigation options down at the bottom than any of the other schemes, I haven't played with them yet. If anyone can add more comments that may help others as well.

If you make a scheme using this spreadsheet, you can just copy the column out after you're done, and paste it into a text editor, save it as "schema" et voila.
