@cuntis
I will adapt the editor as soon as possible but for now I don't have access to the new waze version. Perhaps somebody could send me an beta apk or at least a zipped skins folder ?

@Olestas
Ok I'll create a topic in the addons forum.

Hi, I made a visual editor for color schemes on Android (Toggelis Waze Editor). Tell me if you like it and what features you'd like to see.

Hi all,
Testing, and editing skin i tried to make railroad more wider, but when i changed Thickness to something more than 1 map start showing a Railoroad Label (In Poland almost all railroads have name "PKP"),
how to hide this label ?
Code: Select all
Railroads.LabelDeclutter: 1

It seems than we can not only hide (or show, for exaple for 4x4 Trail) label, but change also a color, and a background:
Code: Select all
Railroads.LabelColor: #ff000088 # this working 100%  #rrggbbaa
Railroads.LabelBgColor: #ff000088 # this dont working, but should

Its good idea to add this to wiki.

Example:
Image
4X4 trail has color label, diffrent from regular road, and this line with 2 dark border is railroad without label.

When I had an Android phone I did it with file manager, that was easy.

I also had my Iphone jailbreaked and then it was quiet easy too. But I removed the jailbreak and now I want the custom schemes back, because I like them more than the default schemes.
Thans for all the information.

Ps. I hope that my English is not so bad.

So I'm running Android 7.0. We are pretty much assured there is no way on the latest 4.x versions to do custom maps anymore correct?

Been searching high/low for a way...but nothing. So back to 3.9.9.0 and my custom maps still.

EDIT: Wanted to Edit this. I went back to the older downloads archived on the web. Found a version 4.20.0.1 that has a subfolder under the /data/data/com.waze/waze/default called Skins. There are familiar folders for Day/Night and the standard/map editors version.

The files are formatted slightly differently, so I went and modified those and copied them back/changed the colors/road widths etc...and it works.

They h ave the two default color schemes 8 and 12. 12 is the default. So I tweaked those files and wallah.

As soon as you upgrade to 4.22.x.x or later, it breaks it and uses the lua file for awhile. Don't care to figure those out. So now have 4.20.0.1 working with my custom two skins I like for day/night.

There you go.
Thx

The only other option would have to be implemented by Waze. I did mention it to the Devs, but it's not a priority.

Ahh... so the parent app may grant permissions.
Would it be possible to grant permissions for general access for manual editing like we used to have, or is it an app-by-app basis?

I'd really prefer to regain the ability to manually work with the files from the desktop. Toggelis is great, but some options are missing, such as the ability to turn on hidden features like runways.

But each app automatically gets permission to access its own files. This is why waze can access the skins, but other apps can't access waze skins.

Smart from a virus protection standpoint.
Is there any workaround that could be programmed into Toggelis?

It turns out if you replace the schema file that is currently being used, it gets broken .. and stays broken until you reinstall :/ ugh. Not sure how long ago I tried that last time, must have been version pre-4.0, but it certainly did not break the client back then.

The pre-4.0 maps will not work on 4.0+

There is an issue with Android where the schema are not contained in a protected folder and we can no longer access them without a root.
I have no idea why Android would have done this, or what Waze or other apps do to allow access to that folder when the color changing app can't.
