Missing drive data

Postby rdeavila » Mon Feb 04, 2013 5:30 pm

Hi,

I don't know if this is the correct forum area to report this, but that's my problem:

Always in the same area, the drive data is missing. In the start and end of my drive I always have cellular data coverage, but in this area I don't.

Waze don't record data to upload some time after?

You need to have data coverage in order for the app to register your driving data. It doesn't have an offline feature to record your drive to update later, unfortunately. :x

Which something they need to add. I just took a 300 mile trip through the mountains, and I probably lost over 100 miles because of no signal in those areas. The funny thing is it will show you driving along the route pretty accurately even when it is offline.

I would really like to see Waze buffer data for later upload.

I drive through Ortega Highway in southern California to/from work every day. I drive 90+ miles total each due through this corridor. But, because there is no network through the mountain pass Waze is only recording about 50-60% of my drive each day.

I checked My Drives on the site and sure enough, my commute is being recorded as two separate drives: the first segment from home to the beginning of the pass, and a second segment as I re-enter civilization until I arrive at my destination.

I somehow feel cheated out of points, but I suppose I can live with that. That app is obviously still able to accurately monitor my current position throughout all segments of my drive. Why would the devs avoid saving the data to upload when I arrive? Or are they?

I read elsewhere that there is *supposed* to be a feature doing this, but I have yet to see evidence this is working. I test SW professionally and would be willing to offer myself as a tester on request. :)

Also of note: Ortega is one of those highways that can become a 2-3 hour wait if anything goes awry within the pass segment. Most regular drivers of Ortega would really benefit from the ability of the app to report incidents even when there is no network available. It would be great if we could "queue" incident reports that would post to the servers once a user re-established network connectivity.

I'm not finding the caching of drive data, hazard reports, nor map issues in the current features requests list. I will add them. Waze knows about them, but didn't transfer them from our spreadsheet.

Yes caching of drive data is really needed. Not sure how we will map new areas either otherwise where there is no coverage. I'll see if I can find that request and vote for it.

Is the feature submission for IOS only or for Android also as I have also faced the annoying part when I can't submit any reports when I hit a no network area.

I've noticed on Saturday that my long drives are not showing up. I drove 145.5 miles on Friday and the same distance yesterday. I have network connection about 80% of the drive way. They are not in my tab Drives, but my short drives are and are up to date. Any clue about what's going on?

Come on Waze, this needs to be sorted out. It's not that difficult to add. The programmers should be able to add this very very easily. 2 extra cups of coffee should sort this :-)
