Side-note: This Wayfinder seems like it should be set as a Right FWY Split, and the stubs should be Ramp type.
Fixed, thanks

Many many users have been faced with strange routing behavior , where we could hardly give an answer and creating a lot of URs as well.
That's the million dollar question, or at least after so we know the specifics of to work around the change. But, alas we do what we always do, and try to figure it out for the best. Maybe this time they'll chime in and help us out.

I edited the list in the OP and added a bit to clarify what we know so far.

I've been trying to get a couple wayfinders in my region to work for about a week or two and was about to post a request for help. Do you think this is a related - and if so should the Wayfinder section of the wiki be edited to reflect the fact that this is again being reformulation?
Yes it can affect certain Wayfinders, and that section will be modified shortly to reflect this, once we know all the details we need. For the most part that section will remain the way it is, with the exception of some added details where alt names are concerned.

If you could be so kind, please post the PermaLinks here to the Wayfinders you are trying to get to work, as the time frame matches perfectly. We would love to take a look at them and see if we can learn anything new from them. We can then also help you set them correctly so they are not affected by this change.

These 3 platforms can have different behaviours.
Up until now this portion of the code, and its associated behaviors were common to all servers, we have no reason to believe that that has changed, though anything is possible. If you want to setup a test in your country to confirm I'd happy to help you through it. Just send me a PM.

jaywazin wrote:Well the caveat here is that for each of these I only made one of the exiting stubs 5m in length (so I didn't follow the instructions exactly), because in #1, the other was already a ramp, and in #2 the exiting ramp is locked level 5 (I'm L3). I've read that wayfinder wiki many times and it seems that the 5m was just to make sure it didn't look strange on the app or screw up the routing timings. . .

Anyway, here's #1. Going southbound on Alfort St Bridge, there is a fork to an "exit" ramp to Alford St (right), and a continuation onto Rutherford Ave (left). However from a driving perspective, it's pretty unclear which way to go (I don't know how many times I went the wrong way due to the lack of instruction) - if anything going straight would take you to the ramp (right), and going down Rutherford Ave requires that you veer left. So we need a prompt to "stay right" or "stay left" depending on the route. It currently gives a "exit or stay right" (I don't recall which one, I should probably pay more attention) but nothing if you go left down the Rutherford Ave underpass/tunnel.
I fixed this one, it was being caused by this new issue. Though I'm not sure why these outer segments are using the ramp type? It seems they should be set as MH, especially since they have house numbers on them.
jaywazin wrote:Here's #2. Driving west on Memorial drive - Again there is a fork. Going straight would be an exit to a ramp to Massachusetts avenue; staying left would keep you on memorial drive to bypass the intersection via a underpass. Again, there's only a prompt to "exit or stay right" if you're turning ont Mass Ave, but nothing to stay left. I've seen several UR's about this particular issue as well.
I fixed this one as well which was also being caused by this issue. I also updated it to match the Wayfinder guidance, I made the left stub be no a no-name segment. There still remains the alt-names on the MH segments of Memorial which will no longer affect the Wayfinder, but still seem to be wrong, and need to sorted out.

Thanks for showing us these.

jaywazin wrote:Thanks for the fixes. I'll test them both out over the next week on livemap and in person once they go live!

Regarding the question about the outer segments - not sure they were set up as ramp even before I started wazing. I'll be happy to change them to MH with a short ramp stub.

I'll look more at the other alt names for Memorial, but many of them are already locked to L5 or will be soon as orbitc's road locking standards for this region kicks in. As far as the wayfinder guidance naming - haha, I saw the box in the wiki with the explanation mark starting with "Previously in these situations segment naming was modified. . ." I missed the whole part of the bullet point just above that which said to just remove the name!
If you do change those ramps to MH, then there will be no need for a ramp stub, both wayfinder stubs should then be MH as well.

jaywazin wrote:Thanks. I guess that'd give an "exit right" and "stay left" rather than "stay" both directions. Will change the stubs as well.

I was just looking at the naming of memorial drive. It's pretty convoluted, having alternative names of Mass Rt2, US Rt2, and Mass Rt3, and in different places. Will get to it later!
If you use ramp stubs you'll get the exit right, if you use MH stubs you'll get stay right.

SH-22 WB to SH-223 wayfinder. The primary names are different but alt names match so no direction is given. Staying on 22 WB to its own wayfinder has no matching name so "keep right" is given.
Thanks for posting this. There were two factors at play here, the new changes, and a recent FC upgrade to only side of the wayfinder. The fix here includes updating the wayfinder to the guidelines, and correcting for the new changes.

It's up to date and fixed now.

We looked at this together overnight, and have not found any the issues seen in the other Wayfinders with alt names, but there are done theories related to the MH type and elevation differences we have to test to confirm. These are also the first Wayfinders in the ROW server mentioned, we'll keep posted on these.

I am getting a "turn right to Colorado" instruction here (only way to go)
https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=66735429

I do not know if this would have given an instruction 2 weeks ago.

I do not get a "stay to the left" instruction here (and never have) from SB Colorado merging onto Huntington:
https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lo ... s=63730914
Short answer: Both of these are acting according to plan, and have not been affected by the new changes. what you describe is the expected behavior.

Explanation:
The first turn instruction you mention is 60° (which is above the 45° threshold), and although it is the only legal option, it is not the only option, hence the turn instruction.

The second one is 18° (under the 45° threshold for turn vs. stay) and therefore only checks for other options which are both legal and also less than 45°, here there is only one legal option less than 45°, and so there's no calculated need for an instruction according to the algorithm.

If you're ever not sure what instruction (if any) is expected at any specific junction, you can find out by answering a series of yes or no questions here. If something is not acting according to what that page says it should do, then it may have been affected by these changes.
