Bodies of water are now places!

Postby redviper26 » Tue Feb 10, 2015 2:50 pm

Hey guys,

We are happy to announce a change in handling bodies of water in WME, currently in the INTL environment only: as of now they’ll appear in the editor as places, meaning you can take control and edit them. This will enable the community to handle situations of inaccurate locations easily.

We only imported bodies of water under 10KM in size, which covers the vast majority of such places.

Please note that bodies of water were not imported when there was a match to a place in the same location, but in some cases we may have missed the match and you may therefore find a few duplicate places.

Let us know if you find any issues,

Noam

This sounds promising, but if I'm checking, as an example, 30% of the city of Abu Dhabi is "in the water".

I would expect water places to appear there, but there's nothing matching with the blue areas from the livemap/app :?

Why does this:

look completely different from this:

It seems that rivers have not been included... in fact, I can not find any such body of water that has been imported in Romania...

Don't see any differences in Latvia or Lithuania.

If you can share specific examples, we'll look into it.

Hi,

I had raised this issue in my country's page as well on the very same day when it was Bodies of water were mapped on the WME.

There are some issues regarding the Geographical naming of the Water Bodies especially the State in which it is mapped. For example there are Places and Road Segments within the State Boundaries are Wrongly Named, all over Maharashtra its Tamil Nadu (TN).

The Links below are few Examples.

1.Permalink Panvel Creek wrong State TN instead of Maharashtra

2.Permalink Overlapping Powai Lake with Wrong State same as above.

3.Permalink Unnamed Landmark with Wrong State same as above.

4.Permalink Incomplete Mapping.

5.Permalink Overlapping Valvan Lake Wrong state same as above.

To verify I have crossed checked with Bing Maps and Google Maps as well, there's all ok and in place.
My problem earlier it was till the road segments only now its in the Places as well!!!

Regards,
sk2380.
