Road types need to be cleaned up. Ramps shouldn't be ramps. Split may not be needed, and if it is needed, directions need to be corrected.

Actually, looks like split is not needed since it doesn't look like Belmont can go straight through the major intersection anyway.

Anyone familiar with this area to confirm accuracy of the aerials?

I can speak to dilemma #2, although it's a little ways out of my bailiwick (but not much ). The New York State Department of Transportation has been working on State Route 17 for many years, in an effort to complete the project of upgrading it to become Interstate 86.

I don't know the current status of the project in that area, but the NYSDOT website does have this information available regarding the intended change there. In particular, page 2 of that document does indeed show the location of the new NY-17 (to become I-86 by the end of 2012) in keeping with the recent GPS tracks on the Waze map. Maybe bslande can provide more up-to-date information here?

(P.S. -- I just submitted this area to the "Aerial Pictures for update" page -- I think it needs it! I also checked several other online map sites -- no one has updated images in this area. )

I would like to change my original phrasing.
This thread is where I would like to post map problems we encounter that rise for us here at waze and the IGN team where we rather not touch the area, since those will be usually more complex problems that require a local eye.

We thought to harness this channel to notify area managers that there is work in their area that we would rather not touch since we are unfamiliar with those places and have them edit it as they see fit.

It looks like most of the US/Canada border crossings are disconnected, not just the one you pointed out, so I'll work on those.
