Definition of a 'Car Park'

Post by PSKrieger
Don't worry - I haven't gone mad! 8-)

I'm wondering what the correct definition of a 'car park' would be from the Waze community? In my area I've noticed a lot of map problems where a car park has been identified with a pin rather than a polygon. When I've gone to fix some of these, I'm finding car park pins in private vehicle compounds or anywhere that Google Earth makes it look like there are lots of cars parked. One such example is at the permalink below.

The area selected is the storage company for Arrows Self Drive Van Hire. Yes it's a car park as such but it's private a private one and you'd probably get clamped if you parked your car there and went into Wakefield! :)

So if you can confirm when a car park ISN'T a car park, that would be great and I can get on with fixing these.

You will find a decent guidelines for UK mapping of car parks in our sub-forum.

Car Park Guidelines for the Parking Project [UK]

In the example you have given, this is not mapped as a car park but as a vehicle rental business, clearly Wazebot got excited when it saw all the parked vans ;)
