Once in the map editor go to the location where you submitted the map error, you should then check the top right drop-down menu which contains map layers and make sure that there is a tick in the "Problems" boxes to see your report as a bubble on the map. Unless the editor closed it because he was not getting any replies you should see it and once you click that, it opens a pop-up which contains a chat where you can respond.

I've found this video which shows exactly that: (You don't need to understand what the guy says, just watch for a few seconds after 0:30 and you'll see it)

We are community members (aka Waze users like you), none of us develop the Waze App nor the Waze Map Editor, so we don't make anything complicated, we just try to communicate as best we can with people reporting errors using the tools made available to us by Waze.

Closed URs cannot be re-opened (we've asked staff to modify this several times but they never made it possible). Check the username of the editor who answered or closed the UR and send them a private message here on the forum if you still want to get in touch with them.

You should see the yellow report pin by default. If not, verify in the layers menu (top right) to see if "Issues - Map" is checked.

That's because those messages are sent from the no-reply@waze.com e-mail address. It's common practice for companies to use such addresses for sending automated messages and the "no-reply" before the @ is usually there to inform the recipient that he/she should not respond directly to the e-mail.

Is this really the best you can do Waze? There is NO WAY for a user to actually answer the question emailed to them?
You will find a video linked in this post showing how to open the report and reply, and also explanations on how to reply from the App or from the Waze Map Editor with screenshots in this post.

As a side note, Waze staff does not read this forum, so sarcasm, snarkiness etc.. has no effect here. This is a community supported forum and you're only talking to other Wazers, like you.

The only reason you would not see anything in the WME, besides if the layer showing your Update Request was left OFF, would be that the UR was already closed and a couple of weeks passed, after which time they are removed from the map and cannot be interacted with anymore at all. If it was closed but less than two weeks went by, you can check more options in the layers menu and check the box that allows to see recently closed URs.

Put how to find and respond to the issues in the email, the pop-up, or someplace that the response takes you too, or stop asking for responses.
This is a community forum, we cannot do what you are suggesting, we do not have any control over the content of the e-mails, the WME or the App UI.

We will continue to respond to people who come here for help, that is all we can do.

This should be fixed in the next WME release, whenever a URL (from e-mails to respond to a UR or elsewhere) contains a parameter for such items, for example &mapComments=##ID## or &mapUpdateRequest=##ID##, the corresponding layer will be enabled when people open the editor, so they should see the UR and where to respond right away instead of an empty map with nothing visible on it.

Are you using Android? I have an Android phone and at first, I did not see any place where to reply below the editor's message in the app inbox, but then it occurred to me to swipe the screen up and there was the reply line below the message.
