New WME version v2.4-21

Postby delilush » Wed Jan 03, 2018 11:11 am

Hi Everyone,

we have a new WME version that includes mainly changes in user permissions:

* Changes in permissions: L1 editors cannot delete segments unless they created it themselves
* Changes in permissions: L1&2 editors cannot set difficult turns
* Changes in permissions: L1 editors cannot close URs
* Credit/debit card checkbox is not labelled correctly - FIXED
* WME is slow - PARTIALLY FIXED
* New translations

Happy Editing!

Any thoughts about allowing us to make a L1 editor trusted, once we know they have the hang of URs?

Then just manually promote them locally to L2.

An L1 editor can still respond to URs and work issues, they just can't close them, correct?. Getting to L2 isn't terribly difficult and early promotions are still possible. I think this is a welcome change.

What's the reason for not allowing L2 to set difficult turns?
(I'm glad I managed to set all the most important difficult turns around here before this change :roll: )

Very likely because many new users don't know the various editing standards in their region, and no doubt some have never communicated with their respective community. I know we had some that went around and set a ton of them to difficult turns without any discussion and caused a number of issues. We had to go back and remove all of them which took a lot of time away from other tasks.

Thank you for the new permissions update!

Has it been considered to have junction boxes lowered from 5 to 4 (maybe 3?)? I thought in the ROW servers, JB's were lower ranked, or able to be set lower.
