Bridge Heights

Post by aliengravy
Hi there,

When map editing, is there anyway to enter bridge heights, and more importantly mark low bridges??

At this time we can set our vehicle type to private, taxi, and a few others. Bridge height would likely effect truck drivers and at this time we cannot select truck as a vehicle type.

Nonetheless, your suggestion is one I haven't heard before. Thanks for sharing!

I've heard this suggestion in the past for vehicle width, height, length and weight limits. As long as Waze remains focused on cars, I'm afraid I don't see them adding this data any time soon.

You could in theory ask your a Global Champ in your area to put a fixed alert with the reporting tool at the location of the bridge, but those will only last for 6 or so months and will probably be annoying to all regular drivers as they will constantly get this warning message as well when they drive over the bridge.

I never said truck drivers don't use Waze, I only said Waze focuses on cars ;) I constantly see GPS tracks of people who use Waze while they're on a train or while they're cycling. I'm not sure why exactly, but they do.
Personally I'd be all for adding this vehicle type, just like I'd love there to be an emergency vehicle type. But that is up to Waze to decide.

Based on GPS tracks on areas where cars are unlikely, or not allowed at all, I can tell that lots of truckers use Waze. This has some unfortunate side effects. Here in Europe max speed of all trucks (semi, tractor + trailer) is limited to 80 kilometers per hour, which contaminates speed data of highway segments with speed limit higher than 80 kph. Also, any restriction based on vehicle type "truck" has no effect, and any attempt to allow only trucks by restricting cars will actually block all trucks.
